Season 1 is the first season of Hannah Montana, which premiered from March 24, 2006 - March 30, 2007, and consisted of 26 episodes. This season began filming on November 7, 2005-September 2006. The series is based on a secret teen pop star who is also an ordinary girl at the same time.

The season's soundtrack was released on October 24, 2006 under the title Hannah Montana. The season itself was released on DVD as a four disc set on November 18, 2008, by Disney DVD.

Hannah Montana premiered Friday, March 24, 2006 on Disney Channel with pilot episode "Lilly, Do You Want to Know a Secret?" The first season completed on March 30, 2007 with "Bad Moose Rising". In the United Kingdom it first aired in the Summer of 2006, then the second season then aired in 2009.

The 26-episode season consists of colored, full-screen, approx. 23-minute comedic situations about an average teenager with a secret superstar identity to be treated the same (without commercials), recorded using a multiple-camera setup. It wasn't until the middle of Season 3 did they use more advanced production to air on TV.

Disney first asked Miley Cyrus to audition for the part of Lilly Romero, but they later asked her to try for Zoe Stewart. They were impressed by the audition tape, but not convinced. They tried to get someone older and with more experience, but they kept coming back to Miley. Eventually, the audition process was up against her and a 16-year-old with lots of sitcom experience. Gary Marsh decided to go with Miley.
